Build out your meals

Add meals to a plan and fill each one with foods.

You'll need:
A nutrition plan (see Create a nutrition plan)

Once a plan exists it needs meals, and each meal needs food in it. This is where you turn an empty plan into something you can actually log against every day.

1. Open the plan editor

From Meal plans (the clipboard icon on the Nutrition tab), tap a plan's name to open it. Every plan starts with a default set of meals (Morning, Lunch, Dinner, Snack) that you can rename, reorder, or remove.

The plan editor for Lean & Strong, showing a Breakfast meal with Rolled oats and Banana each with a quantity in grams and running macro totals, plus the sticky Plan total panel with rings for calories, protein, carbs, and fat.

2. Add a meal

At the bottom of the meal list, type a name into the Meal name field and tap Add meal.

3. Add food to a meal

On a meal card, tap Add food. This opens the add-food flow, the same one used everywhere in Koach:

  • Search for a food, or pick one from Recent foods.
  • Don't see it? Tap the scan icon inside the search field to look it up by its barcode, or tap Can't find it? Add a custom food below the list to create it.
  • Once you pick a food, set its Quantity and Unit, then tap Add to meal.
The Add a food screen: a Search foods field with a barcode-scan icon inside it, and a Recent foods list starting with Chicken breast, cooked and including White rice, Rolled oats, Greek yogurt, Broccoli, and Banana - each row showing its last-used serving, macro chips, and a trailing + button to add it to a multi-select batch - with a Show more button below the list and a Can't find it? Add a custom food link beneath it.

See Find foods and Add a custom food for the details of each path.

4. Rename, reorder, or remove a meal

  • Rename: tap the meal's name and type a new one.
  • Reorder: use the up/down arrows next to the meal name.
  • Remove: tap the trash icon, then confirm. Removing a meal removes every food in it too.

5. Keep your targets in sync

As you add foods, the plan's running total is compared against your daily targets at the bottom of the page. If your food totals settle meaningfully above or below the targets you set earlier, Koach offers a banner to update the plan's targets to match - tap Set as targets if that's what you want.

When your meals are ready, plans can also hold meal alternatives for swappable options.

When the plan belongs to your coach

If your coach built this plan, the editor opens read-only: no add, no remove, no quantity or target you can change. A banner at the top names the coach and offers Duplicate to edit, which hands you an editable copy, the same name with (copy) appended, and leaves your coach's original alone. Logging against the coach's plan works normally either way.

Recent changes

At the foot of the editor, a Recent changes list shows who touched this plan and when - you, your coach, or an assistant you've connected over MCP. Each row names what changed, with its old and new value, like a food's quantity or the plan's calorie target. It's read-only: nothing here can be edited or cleared. Entries are kept for a month and then removed automatically; once none are left, the empty state says so instead of just looking blank.

When it goes wrong

  • A food shows no macros. It has no serving defined for the unit you picked - try a different unit, or add a serving to the food itself.
  • "Add meal" does nothing. The meal name field is empty; type a name first.
