Add a custom exercise

Add an exercise the library doesn’t have, with its muscles, equipment, and a demo video.

If the library search doesn't have an exercise you do, add it yourself - it behaves exactly like a library exercise afterward: searchable, addable to plans, loggable in sessions.

1. Open the form

From the exercises page, tap Add custom exercise in the My exercises section. You can also get here mid-flow: whenever you're searching the library - while adding an exercise to a plan or to an active session - a search with no matches offers the same Add custom exercise action right there.

2. Name it and set its muscles

Enter a name, then pick the muscles it targets: at least one primary muscle is required, and you can optionally add secondary muscles for anything it works less directly. A muscle can only be picked once - primary and secondary can't overlap. A live muscle preview updates as you pick, so you can check it looks right before saving.

The Add custom exercise form: a Name field, and primary and secondary muscle chip grids, with a sticky Add exercise button pinned at the bottom of the screen.

3. Set equipment and an optional video

Choose the equipment it needs from the list (gym, bodyweight, dumbbell, barbell, kettlebell, band, machine, cable, or other). If you have a demo for it, paste a youtube.com or youtu.be link - a preview plays right on the form so you can confirm it's the right video before saving.

4. Save it

Tap Add exercise. It's now searchable from the library everywhere you pick exercises, listed under My exercises.

When it goes wrong

  • The form won't submit. Check that you've entered a name and picked at least one primary muscle - both are required. An invalid YouTube link also blocks submission; leave the field empty if you don't have one yet.
  • A muscle won't select in both lists. A muscle can't be both primary and secondary at once - remove it from the other list first.
  • You need to fix it after saving. Open My exercises, tap the edit icon on the exercise, and the same form opens pre-filled - every field, including the video, can be changed.
